Ant-Man Review

Ant-Man was the MCU's first step into something that would later become necessary to the MCU as a whole, setting up projects that have come and gone like its sequel, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Avengers: Endgame, and projects yet to be released such as, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

So while its quite a small scale film, as you go down the road of the MCU you'll see how important it is to the universe. It also just happens to be some of the MCU's best to offer, with great visual effects, hilarious ad-libbing from Paul Rudd, and a fun and small scale story that is sure to please everyone watching.

Rudd delivers a very funny and memorable performance while Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lily turn in very serious performances that balance out the hilarious moments delivered by Paul Rudd, Michael Pena, T.I., and David Dastmalchian.

Corey Stoll is a menacing villain and is not given the credit he deserves as Daren Cross/Yellowjacket.

Finally its visual effects and action scenes are again some of the best Marvel has to offer. It just shows you what Marvel can achieve with time and patience, instead of putting out several projects yearly. You can definitely tell from its visuals that the director Edgar Wright had a big hand in bringing this movie to life, from the way he'll shoot certain scenes, to even some of his dialogue. Unfortunately, he dropped out as the director before production began due to creative issues with Marvel, but I do cherish the moments you can really feel his creative presence.

Overall, Ant-Man is just good entertainment with memorable performances, fantastic action, great story, and the start to something greater.

Ant-Man gets an A-.
